There are a lot of different strains and family lines out there when it comes to medical marijuana. One of the more powerful strains on the market today though is called True OG. Also called True OG (referencing the street term “original gangster”), this particular strain has been secure since the year 1996.

That’s a long time when considering all of the hybridization that’s been done with so many plants, and if someone wants a powerful, original strain then OG is definitely the way to go with it.

What Makes the OG Strain so Special?

True OG has been kept pure for a reason; it packs a heavy right hand when it’s time to go to work. The plant itself can reach a full flower in as little as 9 weeks, which is a fairly fast clip as far as growing is concerned, and every plant offers a solid, medium yield on how many buds can be harvested. In addition to a good growth time and an acceptable yield though (things that are good for the grower), True OG also has a high level of THC.

THC, which stands for tetrahydrocannibinol, is the part of the drug that bonds to the chemical receptors in the brain to alter the body’s behavior. Low doses of THC can dull pain and stimulate the appetite, which is primarily what medical marijuana is used for. While this chemical can be synthesized, and is in the case of prescription drugs like Marinol, users have reported that using natural marijuana seems to have a more direct effect on their symptoms than the lab-created product does. For those with heavy symptoms, a plant with a power pack of THC is what’s needed.

True OG Uses

In addition to its dossier, True OG also comes with a list of characteristics for those who are smoking it. The flavor is rich and earthy, and there’s a touch of lemon citrus in every puff. It’s an indica phenotype plant, and like others in its family use of True OG comes with an initial, fast rush of sensation that evens out to a deeper feeling of relaxation. While the overall sensation caused by True OG might be too much for those who want to go about their day regularly, for those who are dealing with intense symptoms of pain, or who are coping with things like cancer treatment, it’s just what the doctor ordered.

White Rhino is an Indica dominant hybrid strain. It is 90% Indica and 10% Sativa.

White Rhino Roots

Brazilian Sativa

South Indian Indica

Afghani

White Rhino Appearence

White Rhino is very dense and produces extremely crystallized buds. The color is light olive green with whitish leaves. The white comes from the crystals making it look frosty. For the inexperienced smokers, this is a great attribute of the marijuana. It makes it a very strong looking strain.

White Rhino Smell

The smell of White Rhino is very strong to say the least. You can almost say it has an overwhelming smell. When sniffed closely, one can sense sour berries and spicy anise.

White Rhino Taste

White Rhino’s taste is a bit confusing. On one hand, you can taste almost a sour and sweet candy flavor. On the other hand, it tastes peppery but not in a bad way at all. The taste is amazing and one of the best I have tried.

White Rhino Effetcts

Last but surely not least, the effects of the smoking White Rhino. White Rhino is usually above 20% in the THC range. This makes a big difference in what it does when smoked. This strain can surely be a “1 hit, quit” type of experience.

One hit can even last over an hour. In smaller consumption, the Sativa is brought out a little bit more. This makes one more energized and in a happy feeling. It also brings on muscle relaxation and pain relief. We all know how that feels. In large dosages, one’s whole body gets numb and it heats you up a bit.

It can even become psychedelic in a sense where you are pinned to the couch and seeing patterns and colors in your head. Do not let this scare you off! It is a fantastic feeling but way beyond a normal Indica experience. You may feel like this for a good 4-5 hours so enjoy it!

For severe pain in Medical Marijuana Patients, this is one of the most effective medicines. Zero pain for hours but get ready for the ride! I would not recommend this for beginners but I highly recommend it for experienced Medical Marijuana patients. It is specially made to be a strong narcotic pain reliever. It can also be very good for depression and OCD but not very much for anxiety. As you can imagine, may make you a bit more anxious if you are already suffering from anxiety.

This is a review of the medical marijuana (cannabis indica) strain called Northern Lights. Northern Lights is considered to be one of the most potent types of marijuana, it is also known for having a high yield when it comes to production.

Why So Popular?

Another reason that Northern Lights is a good strain to produce for the medical use of the plant is because it is very easy to grow into high yielding plants, for these reasons Northern Lights has won several official marijuana competitions, one being the popular, “Cannabis Cup” for example, in 1989, 1998, and once more when entered in 2009.

That’s quite an honor in the opinions of some marijuana users and many growers. Northern Lights is said to have a citrusy, earthy, and sweet flavor. The leaves of this strain range from green to purple and the smell is much like the flavor.

What Can it Do for You?

Marijuana, in general, can be medically helpful for people with several types of conditions, and production of the Northern Lights strain is relatively easy because of the way it grows. Northern Lights was first developed by the Cultivators choice seed collective. This strain is known to cause a strong sense of euphoria and to ease pain and relax nerves and muscles. Smokers have also said that it makes them happy, feel uplifted, and to be more creative after smoking.

This strain has also become the focus of many scientific studies recently. Its medicinal purposes has finally become more and more of a focus to the medical community as well. Because of its use in cancer patients, chronic arthritis sufferers, chronic premenstrual syndrome, gastrointestinal disorders, PTSD, those who suffer depression, fibromyalgia, stress, migraine headaches, and other anxiety issues.

Ol’ Reliable

Northern Lights has been proven over and over again to have value as a valid medicine. Before legalization to medically prescribe marijuana, many people were already using the drug to self medicate for these conditions. Northern Lights is most available in California, Colorado, and most recently, Washington state.

There are some negative effects of using Northern Lights, of course none are nearly as bad as the side effects for other drugs that treat the same symptoms. Some of the side effects include dry mouth or eyes, paranoia, and dizziness. All in all the Northern Lights strain of marijuana is perfect for mass production and medical use. And because it has no serious side effects, some even consider it perfect for recreational use as well.

Washington, along with Colorado, have legalized marijuana. This was seen by activists as the first of many successes, and as a huge blow to the burgeoning, unsuccessful war on drugs. However, with all the predictions flying about what was or wasn’t going to happen come December 6, lots of curious eyes have been focused on the Northwest United States to see just how the de-criminalization went.

Overall, it was pretty mellow.

What happened? Well, there were lines wrapped around several blocks of eager people who wanted to buy legal pot for their own, recreational use. There were police on site to make sure there weren’t any problems, but by and large they weren’t necessary. Everyone waited their turns quite patiently, and despite the massive turnout there was no shortage of the product to go around. Also, and this is what has added a lot of juice to many other states, several million dollars in taxes was collected in a single day.

Since that day, none of the doom and gloom projections has come true regarding the legalization of pot. There has been no epidemic of stoned drivers, and by and large the state has been treating it like just another recreational product. The newness of it hasn’t quite worn off, and sales are still going well, but that’s likely to remain true as long as Washington is one of the only places in the country where marijuana can be legally purchased and used safely without the possibility of being arrested and slapped with a draconian drug use sentence. There have been issues, as the state predicted, but they’ve been dealt with using fines and appropriate, pre-planned legal procedures specifically drawn up for marijuana use.

Since the pot-pocalypse didn’t happen, business interests have been flowing into Washington, as well as Colorado, looking to see what sort of profit there is to be made. This has led to more licenses being requested, more interested parties in the states, and overall to more money flowing into the state’s coffers. As of yet marijuana hasn’t made Washington a hotbed of state success, but the legalization and sale of marijuana has had a definite and noticeable impact. In the end, life goes on at pretty much the same clip it did before legalization. The only difference now is that in addition to alcohol and tobacco, residents have the option to indulge in marijuana as recreation.

Chocolope is a strain of cannabis that results from the combination of DNA Genetics’ OG Chocolate Thai and Cannalope Haze strains. Its genetic makeup is 95% Sativa, with the other 5% coming from Indica. It has an innately minty smell that combines well with the whiff of cocoa scent that manifests itself when ground up.

Smell is the sense that also contributes a good portion of the sensory inputs for taste and flavor, so Chocolope’s fruity and pleasant combination of mint, cocoa, and even mild citrus scents results in a smooth, flowery, and noticeably sweet taste not unlike enjoying something like a York Peppermint Patty.

Medicinal Uses of Chocolope

For customers interested in the strain’s medicinal properties, Chocolope is recommended to patients suffering from ADD, ADHD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, cancer, and migraine headaches. While it is an excellent treatment for stress and depression, it also has a mild to moderate effect on the user’s pain, nausea, and fatigue.

General Effects of Chocolope&lt

Those partaking of Chocolope noticed an overwhelming surge of euphoria, coupled with a steep drop in anxiety and depression. Other notable positives of this strain are that its users tend to also be happier, more energetic, and even more creative. Unlike some varieties of cannabis, Chocolope does not instill a feeling of indolence within the user.

Indeed, and much like when consuming a decent amount of chocolate, the increased levels of creativity and energy within are quite counterproductive to just sitting around. It should be noted that the general “buzz,” arguably a sort of sugar rush given the chocolate qualities, of this THC-rich strain tends to take effect with the same potency of its light bouquet. Unlike a sugar rush however, Chocolope doesn’t leave you feeling drained after using it.

Drawbacks and Negatives of Chocolope

The two most common negative traits of this strain are dryness of the mouth and eyes. Other common hang-ups, which occur much less often, are the occasional headache, dizzy spell, or fit of paranoia in rare instances.

Other Information Regarding Chocolope

Chocolope is available from proper dispensaries in both leaf and hash varieties. Regardless of how it’s administered, Chocolope is an excellent strain of Cannabis for anyone who feels like they’re running low on batteries. While its initial rush of energy is fleeting, the mental stimulation it inspires hangs around for a much longer period of time, making it ideal for time-consuming tasks.

When residents of Colorado voted 55% to legalize marijuana, retail stores began preparing to sell the drug starting January 1, 2014. Colorado is the first state in the nation to open “pot stores” and they are the only place in the world where the marijuana will be regulated from seed to sale.

The reason many voters chose to legalize this drug is to save the tax payers money. Tax payers spend $10 billion dollars a year trying to enforce the prohibition. If marijuana is not prohibited, there is no need to bring charges against those who are caught with it.

Now that marijuana is legal, as with anything being sold legally, there are taxes. Retail weed has a state tax on it of 25%. There is also the usual state’s sales tax of 2.9%. Marijuana is the highest taxed item in the state of Colorado. The state of Colorado is benefiting hugely due to the legalization of retail marijuana.. The state should bring in an additional $67 million dollars a year in revenue. Lawmakers say that they will use $27.5 million dollars of that money to build more schools. Medical marijuana laws are a bit different. A person with a written prescription from a physician can purchase marijuana with no additional taxes attached to the sale.

On January 1, 2017, three dozen retail marijuana shops opened. Eighteen of these stores were in Denver. Retail pot stores have to go through a very lengthy licensing process with a lot of red tape. This is believed to be the reason that more stores did not open on January 1. There are about 160 retailers still cutting through the red tap in order to get licenses for their store.

Laws are Still There

Just because it is legal to walk into a store and buy marijuana in Colorado now, there are still strict laws in effect.

If a person is 21 years of age or older, they can go into a store with a Colorado ID and purchase up to an ounce of marijuana. People visiting Colorado will be allowed to purchase a quarter ounce. It is not against the law for someone who purchased the marijuana to smoke it with a friend as long as that friend is also over 21 years of age and as long as no money is exchanged between the two friends.

While it is legal to smoke a cigarette on a city street, the same is not true for marijuana. Smoking marijuana is only to be done on private property, as long as the properties owner has given permission. It is not legal to smoke in the pot store where you purchased the marijuana. It is legal for counties to not allow pot stores. Many towns have already done this including Colorado Springs and Greenely. Many ski resorts in Colorado worry about skiers lighting up on the slopes. It can impair the skier’s ability and can also be a problem for other skiers. Many resorts are looking into ways to prevent skiers from lighting up.

Growing Your Own

It is legal for a person to grow their own marijuana as long as they are 21 or older. Growers are allowed six plants and the area where they are growing their plants must remain enclosed from view and locked.

When it comes to underage smoking, those laws have changed a bit as well. If a person between 18 and 21 gets caught with marijuana, they will receive a fine rather than being taken to jail. If a child under 18 is caught with the newly legalized drug, they will be sent to a juvenile detention center rather than jail.

It is possible for a person to be arrested for driving under the influence of marijuana. If the THC level in a person’s blood is higher than 5 nanograms, they are considered impaired.

While some people’s opinion of the legalization of retail pot differs, there is one thing that both sides of the controversy can be happy about, there are laws and everything is regulated.

White Russian is a THC-rich strain that is a stable cross between the White Widow and AK-47 strains. White Russian’s strong indica background creates consistently high THC levels near or at 22%. This strain is possibly the most THC-potent plant known. It has become a favorite among both patients and growers.

The appearance, odor and taste of White Russian are all pleasantly distinct. The buds have a frosted, snowy trichomes due to its resin coating with gold and greens mixed with a multitude of orange hairs. It is reported being not too dense but not too airy. The pungent fragrance is very floral and rosy with subtle nutty earth undertones. White Russian offers a smooth and full-bodied taste that is sweet and heavy.

Attributes

Indica strains traditionally offer a strong physical body high that makes users sleepy and lethargic while providing a deep relaxation feeling. White Russian is unusual in that it gives a cerebral and energetic high which is usually found in sativa strains. Patients report euphoric, uplifted and happy feelings while using this strain. The reported negative side effects, dizziness, dry eyes and dry mouth are common to most marijuana strains.

Medical Uses

Patients use the White Russian strain to relieve stress caused by anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attention deficit disorder (ADD), or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This strain is also used to help relieve migraines, symptoms from gastrointestinal disorder, symptoms of depression and general pain. It also helps with appetite stimulation. White Russian is the preferred strain for daytime medication because it does not create a foggy or spacey high but rather a clear-headed and energetic high that has a long duration of. It is recommended for patients who need symptom relief but also need to stay productive and task-oriented.

White Russian is not recommended for patients who are new to marijuana medication. The extremely strong potency of this strain can create an overwhelming and uncomfortable high for those who are new to medicinal marijuana’s effects. This strain is also not recommended for long term pain management as strains with lower THC content are just as effective without producing such a powerful high.

There are dozens and dozens of different medical marijuana strains that are available to patients. To the uneducated user, the difference between strains may seem minimal; however, the experienced medical marijuana user understands the subtle nuances that make each strain unique. One of the most popular medical marijuana strains is Vanilla Kush.

Vanilla Kush gets its name for the sweet and nutty flavor that this bud possesses when smoked. For those who do not like to inhale smoke when they medicate, the Vanilla flavor in this strain makes it an excellent strain to use for medical baked goods.

Attributes

The Vanilla Kush strain comes from the Indica family, which means that it generally produces a relaxed and social high. This strain has an average THC content hovering around 20%, which makes it one of the strongest strains available. It is recommended that new medicaters exercise caution with this strain, as its high potency makes it easy to over-medicate.

Effects

Users of the Vanilla Kush strain consistently report feelings of euphoria, happiness, hungriness, and sleepiness. Some negative effects include: dry mouth, dry eyes, dizziness, tiredness, and a few users report headaches as the medication wears off. These effects make the Vanilla Kush strain an ideal treatment for stress, pain, insomnia, fatigue and depression.

Strains like Vanilla Kush are excellent evidence for the value of medical marijuana. Typical medications for anxiety include things like Xanax and Valium, which are some of the most harmful and addicting substances on the planet. Strains like these also cure insomnia just as well as Ambien or Lunesta with none of the awful side effects.

History

The Vanilla Kush strain is one with a reputation of excellence. It was originally created in a grow lab in Amsterdam, and in 2009 it was the winner of the Cannabis Cup. This strain is a great choice for someone who needs to take the edge off their social anxiety or get back on their feet in they are suffering from depression. It also is an excellent strain to reduce stress, which can prevent things like high blood pressure and heart attacks. All in all, the Vanilla Kush strain is one of the best strains available for medical marijuana patients.

A relaxing high and the taste and light scent of bananas. How can you go wrong? This is one of those hybrid strains that tastes exactly how it smells. This strain is potent and does what it sets out to do. Add to that a THC content between 18% and 20% (with some reported levels as high as 26%) and you know what you’re inhaling. Some circles say it’s the best tasting California cannabis available but its word-of-mouth popularity is making waves far beyond its home of origin.

Great Taste, Great High

Banana Kush is a strong Sativa dominant hybrid that washes over you and gives a very strong body high with a moderate head high. More and more consumers are enjoying the BK for it’s medicinal benefits. A bad back. Migrane headaches. Arthritis. The list goes on and on and the relief that Banana Kush is bringing pain sufferers keeps getting longer as well.

An attractive appearance: bright green with yellow-orange hairs gives Banana Kush its sweet bouqet while leaving a sensation of a very strong Indica dominant hybrid. In short – it is not so strong that you cannot function throughout the day and the important element to be repeated is great pain relief. The banana undertones are enjoyable to some and annoying to others. But what counts is that BK provides a good high that is very mellow, makes you slow down and relax and helps relieve all aches and pains.

Just One Bowl

After the first bowl is history, a very mellow buzz sets in most of the upper body that you’ll find is very comforting. The initial buzz is heavily concentrated in the chest and behind the eyes and then washes over the entire body. Eventually ending with a full bodied mellowing effect. Best advice is to let the effects of the first bowl kick in before enjoying a second or third. Stay close to the couch or bed. Banana Kush is a great late evening favorite that makes hard-to-get sleep a real joy.

Banana Kush makes the pains go away and rest-and-relaxation is most welcome.
